Shyamali Nath of Silchar Collegiate School shines bright in HSLC

May 30: Though Barak Valley failed to find its place in the merit list of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, 2019, yet many of its students did exceptionally well and missed the position by a margin of few marks. One such spectacular performance in HSLC Examination, 2019 was made by Shyamali Nath of Silchar Collegiate School.

Shyamali Nath secured 577 marks out of 600 and scored 96.16 percent. She missed the 10th position by a margin of only 6 marks. The 10th position holder in HSLC 2019 got a total of 583 marks. Shyamali got distinction and letter marks in all the 6 subjects. She got 88 in Bengali, 95 in English, 100 in General Mathematics, 96 in General Science, 99 in Social Science and 99 in Advance Mathematics.

Shymali Nath is the daughter of Late Dr. Uma Shankar Nath, who was the Head of the Department of History of Cachar College, Silchar and Dr. Ruma Nath Choudhury, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Radhamadhab College. Shymali’s mother Dr. Ruma Nath Choudhury has expressed happiness at her performance and said that she was sincere in her studies since the early school days.

Speaking to way2barak, Shyamali Nath said, “Many have their contribution for this achievement, however, the person who has always been a motivator, a friend, philosopher and guide in my life is my mother. She is the one such jewel of my life who always inspires me to perform much better. I also like to express the contribution of my other family members who had been a constant source of inspiration.” She feels that a learning environment at home is essential for good performance by students.

Shyamali was all in praises of Silchar Collegiate School. She said, “I love my school, my teachers very much. I take this opportunity to thank all my teachers and particularly Madam Sudipta Sengupta, our English teacher who has always been after me so that I could learn my lessons properly and perform well.” Shyamali Nath wants to become a doctor. She has taken admission in Higher Secondary Science stream in Vivekananda Junior College. Along with her regular studies, Shyamali has also taken admission at Aakash Institute for doing coaching for NEET.

Meanwhile, the performance of Silchar Collegiate School to which Shyamali belongs was also very bright. A total of 139 students appeared in the HSLC Exam 2019 from Collegiate out of which 134 of them passed in 1st division and 5 got 2nd division. There were 50 star marks and 51 distinctions. A total of 504 letters in different subjects were secured by the students of Collegiate. Further, 33 of its students also secured state highest marks in General Mathematics (30 students of the school got 100 out of 100), one each in Advance Mathematics, Social Science and General Science.
