way2barak, Aug 29: The death toll in Nepal has risen to 626, according to local police. That’s a significant jump from the last update of 579 dead, with almost 2,000 people still missing.

Countries including the European Union, Canada, and the United States have announced that they will send aid materials or financial assistance to Nepal.

According to Nepali officials, about 4,000 people have been rescued.

China has also confirmed seven deaths, with more rain expected, making rescue and search operations more difficult.
