ASSAM UNIVERSITY BECOMES VENUE FOR WORLD’S FIRST INTERDISCIPLINARY INITIATIVE LINKING MAHAMRITYUNJYA VIDYA

way2barak, Aug 5: A one day workshop on youth leadership and mental performance was organized by the department of Sanskrit, Assam University in association with Centre of Indian Knowledge Systems and Mentor Ocean. Dr Rajib Mohan Panth Vice Chancelor Assam University, Padmashree Dr Ravi Kannan and Dr Prosenjit Ghosh Prof & HOD Psychiatry SMCH were the main speakers. Dr S Pokhrel delivered the welcome address. Dr Gangabhusan HOD Social Work also shared his thoughts on indian philosophy. Dr. Darshana Patoa, Medical Officer, Assam University; and Dr. Neilh M. Gautam, Founder of Mentor Ocean™ and conceptualiser of the Mahamrityunjya Vidya™ framework were also present in the morning session.

The successful completion of this interdisciplinary work integrating Mahamrityunjya Vidya with Contemporary Medical Science marks a pioneering achievement. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first such interdisciplinary study in the world, and notably, it has been successfully conducted at a Central University. This milestone represents a significant step toward bridging traditional Indian knowledge systems with contemporary scientific inquiry, opening new avenues for research, innovation, and evidence-based interdisciplinary collaboration.

The programme brought together students, faculty members, research scholars and professionals for academic discussions on leadership, emotional resilience, mental well-being and human performance.

Addressing the participants, Prof. (Dr.) Prosenjit Ghosh spoke on “Mastering Your Mind: Understanding Anxiety, Emotions and Mental Well-being in Student Life,” highlighting the importance of emotional resilience and positive mental health among youth. Dr. Ravi Kannan R. delivered an inspiring session on “The Power of Purpose: Building Inner Strength and Resilience for Life’s Challenges,” emphasising purpose-driven living, inner strength and compassionate leadership.

Dr Neil Gautam, faculty Management department of NIT, Silchar delivered vote of thanks.

The organisers stated that, to the best of available academic knowledge, the programme represents the first interdisciplinary initiative in the world integrating Mahamrityunjya Vidya™ with contemporary scientific perspectives, and has been conducted at a Central University.

The initiative is expected to encourage further interdisciplinary research and dialogue connecting Indian Knowledge Systems with contemporary scientific inquiry in the fields of mental health, mental performance, leadership and consciousness studies.
