জাতীয় স্তরের গ্রিন ইউনিভার্সিটি র‍্যাংকিংয়ে একাদশ স্থান অর্জন আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৯ জুলাই : পরিবেশ সচেতনতা, জলবায়ু নিয়ন্ত্রণ ও পরিবেশবান্ধব ক্যাম্পাস হিসেবে এক অনন্য গৌরব অর্জন করল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। ইউনেস্কো স্বীকৃত পরিবেশ সংস্থা ‘গ্রিন মেন্টরস’-এর পক্ষ থেকে প্রকাশিত মর্যাদাপূর্ণ ‘ন্যাশনাল গ্রিন ইউনিভার্সিটি র‍্যাংকিং ২০২৬’-এ জাতীয় স্তরে একাদশ স্থান অধিকার করেছে এই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মুকুটে এই নতুন পালক সংযোজনে খুশির হাওয়া বইছে ছাত্র-শিক্ষক-শিক্ষাকর্মী মহলে।

ক্যাম্পাসের পরিবেশগত কর্মক্ষমতা ও প্রয়োজনীয় নথিপত্র পর্যালোচনার পর এই ফলাফল ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। মূল্যায়নে চমৎকার পারফরম্যান্স প্রদর্শন করে ১০০-এর মধ্যে ৯২.৯ সামগ্রিক স্কোর অর্জন করেছে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। এই অসাধারণ সাফল্যের স্বীকৃতি হিসেবে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়টিকে ‘গোল্ড রেটিং’ প্রদান করা হয়েছে। উচ্চশিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে একাডেমিক উৎকর্ষের পাশাপাশি পরিবেশগত দায়িত্বশীলতা, কার্বন নিঃসরণ হ্রাস ও জলবায়ু সংক্রান্ত সচেতনতা সার্থকভাবে প্রয়োগের জন্য এই সম্মান প্রদান করা হচ্ছে।

গ্রিন মেন্টরস-এর এই মূল্যায়ন প্রক্রিয়াটি সম্পূর্ণ তথ্য ও প্রমাণ-ভিত্তিক ছিল। মোট ১০০ নম্বরের এই মূল্যায়ন প্রক্রিয়াটি ১০টি মূল স্তম্ভের ওপর ভিত্তি করে সম্পন্ন হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে উল্লেখযোগ্য ছিল ক্যাম্পাসের জীববৈচিত্র্য ও সবুজায়ন, কার্বন ও জলবায়ু কর্মপরিকল্পনা, পরিবেশ-বান্ধব অবকাঠামো ও শক্তির সাশ্রয়ী ব্যবহার, জল ব্যবস্থাপনা, বর্জ্য নিষ্কাশন এবং সামাজিক সংযোগ। এই র‍্যাংকিং ফ্রেমওয়ার্কটি ভারতের ‘জাতীয় শিক্ষানীতি ২০২০’, জাতিসংঘের ‘টেকসই উন্নয়ন লক্ষ্যমাত্রা’ ও ইউনেস্কোর ‘গ্রিনিং হায়ার এডুকেশন ফ্রেমওয়ার্ক’-এর নির্দেশিকা মেনে প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছে।

জাতীয় স্তরে এই সাফল্যের পর আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে আগামী সেপ্টেম্বরে নিউ ইয়র্কে আয়োজিত আন্তর্জাতিক স্তরের ‘দশম এনওয়াইসি গ্রিন স্কুল কনফারেন্স ২০২৬’-এ অংশগ্রহণের জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানানো হয়েছে। বিশ্ববন্দিত উচ্চশিক্ষার দিকপাল ব্যক্তিত্ব , নীতি নির্ধারক এবং পরিবেশ বিশেষজ্ঞদের উপস্থিতিতে আন্তর্জাতিক মঞ্চে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কে সম্মানিত করা হবে।

এই ঐতিহাসিক সাফল্যে খুশি ব্যক্ত করে নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ বলেছেন, এই গৌরব অর্জন সবার সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টার ফল। শিক্ষক, শিক্ষাকর্মী, গবেষক ও শিক্ষার্থীরা ক্যাম্পাসকে পরিবেশ-বান্ধব করতে দীর্ঘদিন থেকেই প্রয়াস চালিয়ে যাচ্ছেন। একাডেমিক উৎকর্ষের পাশাপাশি পরিবেশ রক্ষা করা আমাদের মূল লক্ষ্য। সেই লক্ষ্যেই এগিয়ে চলেছে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। তিনি এই স্বীকৃতির জন্য সবাইকে অভিনন্দনও জানিয়েছেন।

Way2barak, July 29 : Assam University has achieved a remarkable national distinction for its commitment to environmental sustainability, climate action and the development of an eco-friendly campus. The university has secured the 11th position nationally in the prestigious National Green University Ranking (NGUR) 2026, published by UNESCO recognised environmental organisation ‘Green Mentors’. The achievement has brought immense pride and joy to the university’s students, faculty members and staff.

The ranking was announced following a comprehensive evaluation of the university’s environmental performance and supporting documentation. Assam University earned an impressive overall score of 92.9 out of 100, receiving a Gold Rating in recognition of its outstanding performance. The honour acknowledges higher education institutions that successfully integrate academic excellence with environmental responsibility, carbon emission reduction and climate-conscious initiatives.

The assessment conducted by Green Mentors was entirely evidence-based and covered ten core sustainability pillars with a total score of 100 marks. The evaluation included biodiversity and campus greening, carbon and climate action, sustainable infrastructure and energy efficiency, water management, waste management, and community engagement. The ranking framework has been developed in alignment with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and UNESCO’s Greening Higher Education Framework.

Following this national achievement, Assam University has been invited to participate in the 10th NYC Green School Conference 2026, scheduled to be held in New York this September. The university will be honoured on the international stage in the presence of globally renowned higher education leaders, policymakers and environmental experts.

Expressing his happiness over this historic achievement, Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath said that the recognition is the result of the collective efforts of the university community. He noted that faculty members, non-teaching staff, researchers and students have been working consistently to make the campus environmentally sustainable. He added that, alongside academic excellence, environmental conservation remains one of the university’s foremost priorities, and congratulated everyone for earning this prestigious recognition.
