Assam govt orders Guwahati drainage plan revision to tackle chronic waterlogging

way2barak, July 5: The Assam Government continues its efforts to ensure a lasting solution to the problem of waterlogging in Guwahati, which causes inconvenience to citizens during the monsoon season.

 

As part of this initiative, the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushik Rai, visited Maligaon and its adjoining areas under the Jalukbari constituency this morning to assess the overall condition of drains, water drainage systems, and other related issues.

 

During the inspection, the Minister emphasised the need to make the drainage system more effective and directed officials of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Indian Railways, Public Works Department (PWD), and other concerned agencies to take necessary measures.
