Assam University pays tribute to Dr. Bhupen Hazarika
জন্মশতবর্ষে সুধাকণ্ঠকে শ্রদ্ধা আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর : দিনভর নানা কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে সোমবার সুধাকণ্ঠ ড. ভূপেন হাজরিকার জন্মশতবার্ষিকী উদযাপন করল আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। এদিন সকালে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে মূল প্রবেশদ্বারের সামনে ভারতরত্ন ভূপেন হাজরিকার প্রতিকৃতিতে পুষ্পার্ঘ্য অর্পণ করা হয়। সুধাকণ্ঠের চরণে পুষ্পাঞ্জলি নিবেদন করেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ, নিবন্ধক ড. প্রদোষ কিরণ নাথ সহ বিভিন্ন বিভাগের অধ্যাপক, ছাত্র-গবেষক, শিক্ষাকর্মীরা।

এরপর বিপিন চন্দ্র পাল মিলনায়তনে আয়োজিত হয় মূল অনুষ্ঠান। অধ্যাপক অরূপ বর্মণের পৌরোহিত্যে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতে ডঃ ভূপেন হাজারিকার ‘অসম আমার রূপোহী’ সঙ্গীত সমবেত ভাবে পরিবেশন করেন শিক্ষার্থীরা। বক্তব্য পেশ করতে গিয়ে উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ ড. ভূপেন হাজারিকার উত্তরাধিকার ও সামাজিক-সাংস্কৃতিক ক্ষেত্রে তাঁর অপরিসীম অবদানের কথা তুলে ধরেন। অনুষ্ঠানে ড. হাজরিকার বর্ণময় জীবনের বিভিন্ন দিক আলোকপাত করেন কাছাড় জেলা পরিষদের সিইও প্রণব বরা, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক বিশ্বতোষ চৌধুরী ও অসম সাহিত্য সভার সদস্যা কুসুম কলিতা। শেষে ধন্যবাদ সূচক বক্তব্য রাখেন ড. জগন্নাথ বর্মণ।

বিকেলে বিপিনচন্দ্র পাল মিলনায়তনে আয়োজিত হয় এক মনোজ্ঞ সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান। এতে অংশ নিয়ে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বিভিন্ন বিভাগের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা ডঃ ভূপেন হাজারিকার অসমিয়া, বাংলা ও ইংরেজি ভাষার কালজয়ী সঙ্গীত পরিবেশন করেন। এরপর সন্ধ্যায় ফের মূল প্রবেশদ্বারে জড়ো হয়ে ছাত্রছাত্রীরা সুধাকণ্ঠের প্রতিকৃতির সামনে প্রদীপ প্রজ্জ্বলন করেন। সমবেত কণ্ঠে পরিবেশিত হয় ভূপেন-সঙ্গীত।

Way2barak, September 8 : Assam University commemorated the birth centenary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on Monday, 8 September 2025 with a daylong programme. The ceremony organised by the Assam University administration began with floral tributes to the portrait of the cultural icon at the main gate of the University by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant, the Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath along with other faculty members, and students of the university.

A formal meeting followed at the Bipin Chandra Pal Seminar Hall, presided over by Prof. Arup Barman. The students of the university performed a group song of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s ‘Asom Aamar Rupohi.’ The Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant in his speech spoke about the legacy of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and his immense contribution to the social and cultural sphere of the region. Dr. Mukut Sharma, Dr. Sujit Ghosh, Dr. Alfarid Hussain paid rich tributes to the cultural icon. This was followed by special lectures, first by Shri Pranab Bora, CEO of Cachar Zilla Parishad, followed by Prof. Biswatosh Choudhury of the Department of Bengali, Assam University and Smt. Kusum Kalita, member of Asom Sahitya Sabha. Dr. Jagannath Barman delivered the vote of thanks.

The afternoon session featured a cultural programme where students sang Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s songs in Assamese, Bengali, and English. The event concluded with an evening open mic session at the main gate, where students gathered to sing his timeless classics, marking a fitting end to the celebrations.
