BSF Constable of Manipur injured in Pakistan shelling dies

Imphal, May 12 : Cross-border firing in Jammu’s RS Pura sector has claimed the life of BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham, a courageous son of Manipur. The young jawan sustained fatal injuries on May 10 and was declared martyred the next day, leaving the nation grieving yet proud.

Hailing from Yairipok Yambem, a small village in Manipur’s Thoubal district, the soldier’s bravery and dedication have been acknowledged by leaders from Manipur and beyond. His passing has spotlighted the Northeast’s unflinching contribution to national defense.

Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Deeply saddened by the martyrdom of BSF Braveheart Constable Deepak Chingakham, who sustained fatal injuries during cross border firing from Pakistan and laid down his life in the line of duty. He was a proud son of Manipur, and as a Manipuri-Meitei, his courage and devotion to the nation reflect the unwavering commitment of our people to protect and serve.” Singh further saluted the armed forces for their relentless bravery and assured full support to the bereaved family.
