Two more zihadis arrested from Kokrajhar

way2barak, 25 December: in continuation of ‘Operation Praghat’, the Special Task Force (STF), Assam, carried out another Raid and Search Operation last night with the help of Kokrajhar Police at Namapara under Kokrajhar PS area and achieved a huge success in averting a possible major Terror Act by Fundamentalist/Jihadi elements of a Global Terrorist Organisation (GTO). During the course of investigation of STF-PS Case-No 21/2024 U/S 61(2)/147/148/149 R/W Section 10/13/16/18/18B/20 UA (P) Act 1967 and R/W Section 12 (1)(a) of the Passport Act 1967 (registered on 10.12.2024) and on the basis of interrogation of the already arrested Eight Jihadi cadres of ABT/AQIS, the following persons were arrested from Kokrajhar yesterday :

1) Abdul Zaher Sheikh, S/o- Murtaz Ali, Joypur Namapara, PS/Dist- Kokrajhar, Assam.

2) Sabbir Mirdha, S/o- Basit Mirdha, Ramfalbil Bazar PS- Serfanguri, Kokrajhar,

Presently staying at house of – Osman Ali, Kachipara Bazar, PS/Dist- Kokrajhar.

In the course of subsequent interrogation and search operations, as per Section 23 of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), a huge cache of Arms and Ammunition and other war-like items were recovered from the hideout of one of the arrested accused persons.

Details of recovered arms and ammunition along with other war like items are:

1) 4 numbers of handmade rifles, that are made to look like AKs.

2) 34 rounds of live ammunition.

3) 24 rounds of blank cartridges.

4) One pair of live un-primed IED with cortex

5) One hand made grenade with explosives.

6) One Circuit of detonators made out of agricultural equipment.

7) 14 numbers of electronic switches.

8) Three iron cases used for making of IEDs with twenty iron pieces and plates for causing maximum damage/destruction.

9) Huge numbers of switches and wires with explosives used in fire crackers alongwith other incriminating items.

This Operation carried out last night has successfully avert a major act of terror planned by the Bangladesh based handlers of the arrested members of the terror outfit. The operation was carried out under direct supervision of STF Assam Chief Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta.
