KV ONGC Srikona celebrated Makar Sankrati-National Youth Day

Way2barak, January 16 : The auspicious event of Makar Sankranti was marked with a celebration of happiness, upholding the cultural heritage of India at Kendriya Vidyalaya ONGC Srikona. To instill the value of cultural affinity, the spirit of festivity was spread with gusto and fervour. Students were in an upbeat mood and immersed in the festive spirit as the celebration began on the 15th January 2024 through a virtual platform wherein the little ones shared glimpses of cultural performances, decked in beautiful cultural attires.

The festivities continued under the able guidance of honourable Principal Shri Sandeep Kumar Sharma, under the supervision of Mrs. Shalini Chatterjee, CCA Coordinator as the verdant ground of the Vidyalaya reverberated with the folk cultural renditions on 16th January 2024.. The students were made aware of the cultural and scientific significance of Makar Sankranti through enlightening presentations by the eminent faculty of the Vidyalaya.

An English Essay Writing Competition was organised for the senior students to enhance their erudition on the achievement of the Aditya Mission, India’s first space based mission to study the Sun. The KVians dived deep into adoration of the festival when the pious festival saw a great endeavouring in the skill of kite flying off the tiny hands during the Kite Show, spreading the colours of happiness. The Vidyalaya Principal blessed the celebration with his words of wisdom validating the significance of the day.

The enduring value of Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy for the current generation was recalled at his 161st birth anniversary, which was celebrated as the National Youth Day on 12th January 2024 through a virtual celebration. The students of the Vidyalaya enthusiastically participated in various cultutal and literary activities such as Poster Making, Singing Competition and Short Talk associated with Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024, through various social media handles.

The celebration of the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, hailed as the youth icon of the nation, threw light upon a message to the youth enshrining the way of life and ideals that will make India a better country in future.
