Woman shot dead outside school in Manipur

way2barak, July 6 : A middle aged woman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in front of a school in Imphal West district on Thursday, officials said.

Officials said that the armed miscreants opened fire on the woman when she came to Sishu Niketan School at Mayaikoibi to drop her child.

Police and forensic team immediately rushed to the area and recovered the body from the spot in the outskirts of Imphal city.

Eyewitness said that the armed miscreants opened fire on the woman after her child entered in to the school complex.

After more than two months since the violence erupted in Manipur on May 3, a total of 4,521 schools for classes 1 to 8 reopened on Wednesday.
