Chief Minister directs DCs & SPs to work for ‘Accident- free New Year’

CM directs to carry out strict vigilance at picnic spots & ensure that nobody indulges in drunken and speed driving

way2barak, Dec.19: Reviewing the measures taken for the enforcement of road safety in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma via a video conference with all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendent of Police (SPs) of the state districts and other officials discussed the importance of ensuring strict measures on road safety to reduce fatalities in the state.

The Chief Minister asked the DCs and the SPs to enforce road safety & identify accident spots for corrective measures. He also asked them to ensure an ‘Accident-free New Year’ and directed them  to set a target to reduce accidents by a minimum of 20% during this period in the coming year. He also directed to carry out strict vigilance at picnic spots to ensure that nobody indulges in drunken and speed driving.

As regards Stunt driving by bikers, the Chief Minister directed the District and Police administration to take action against bike stunts, speed and drunken driving and intensify patrolling on National Highway and important roads across the state.

Instruction given by the CM to DCs & SPs:

  • DCs, SPs & other officials to review road safety
  • Beneficiary selection for Orunodoi 2.0
  • Amrit Sarovar execution & paddy procurement.
  • Asked them to enforce road safety
  • To identify accident spots for corrective measures
  • Maintain vigilance at picnic spots.
  • Stop illegal liquor sale
  • Work for ‘Accident-free New Year’ & reduce mishaps by 20%
  • Achieve deadline of April 10 in selecting beneficiaries under Orunodoi 2.0
  • Ensure one household one beneficiary
  • Excavate 2,985 Amrit Sarovars & submit DPRs in time
  • Increase paddy procurement
