Prof Sanjita Sinha of Nowgaon Girls’ College who hails from Silchar die in a tragic accident

way2barak, Dec.15: Dr. Sanjita Sinha, Associate Professor, Department of Sanskrit, Nowgaon Girls’ College died in a tragic train accident at Narengi Railway Station at around 3 pm today. She slipped and fell down while trying to get down from the train. Dr. Sanjita Sinha is the daughter of Prof. Birendra Sinha, former teacher of GC College, Silchar. She is the wife of Ranjit Kr Sinha of Chencoorie Road, Silchar, who presently works at Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati.

As per reports, Dr. Sanjita Sinha was returning from Guwahati to Nagaon when the accident took place. She has been survived by her husband, a son and a daughter.

Reacting to her tragic death, ACTA President Himangshu Maral and General Secretary Jayanta Baruah said, “We are heartbroken to inform you that Dr. Sanjita Sinha, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Sanskrit, Nowgaon Girls’ College died in a tragic train accident at Narengi Railway station while trying to disembark from train at around 3 pm today. She was the Assistant Secretary of Nowgaon- Morigaon Zone and played a very active role in the last Annual Conference of ACTA at Nowgaon Girls’ College. She was a very popular teacher loved by her students and colleagues. Her untimely demise has shocked all of us. We offer our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. May her departed soul rest in eternal peace! Om Shanti.”

Another college teacher, Dr Sujit Sinha said, “She was an active member of ACTA. Her untimely death saddened us. She called me at around 2.41 pm today asking me to give her an article when we are supposed to meet at the ACTA Conference in Lakhimpur on 28 December. Just after 20 minutes, she met with the fatal accident. It’s indeed very shocking.”
