Several key decisions taken in Assam Cabinet meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday
way2barak, Nov.23: In the weekly Assam Cabinet on November 23, several key decisions related to govt holidays for 2023, construction of new Anganwadi centres & a trumpet interchange in Gauripur, new handloom & tourism infrastructure, tree-felling outside forest areas, etc., among others were taken. The Cabinet Meeting held at Assam House, New Delhi was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
KEY DECISIONS:
2000 Anganwadis across Assam:
With a view to improving child care services in rural sector, 2000 Anganwadis centres (AWCs) will be constructed in various districts of Assam.
- Cost of each AWC – Rs.25 lakh
- Total project cost: Rs.500 cr
Trumpet Interchange at Gauripur:
A Trumpet Interchange to be constructed at Gauripur T-Junction, North Guwahati which will connect NH-17 with the under-construction 6-lane road of Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge (Assam Bridge Project –
- Estimated cost: 2332.59 cr (including civil works and other project activities like land acquisition, R&R, utility shifting, etc.)
Jongal Balahu Khetra:
To improve tourism infrastructure, administrative approval granted to Jongal Balahu Khetra at Jongal Balahu Archaeological Site at Lawphulabari, Raha. Total project cost: Rs. 250 cr
List of Holidays 2023:
Taking into consideration days of significance to all important communities in Assam, approval has been granted to the list of Holidays for 2023
Proposed Holidays
- Gazetted Holidays – 38 days
- Restricted Holidays – 30 days
- Half Holidays – 2 days
College of Sericulture at Titabar:
To boost handloom sector, administrative approval granted to establishment of College of Sericulture at Titabar, Jorhat. Total project cost: Rs. 22.41 cr.
Tree-felling Outside Forest Areas:
Approval granted to Assam Trees Outside Forest (Sustainable Management) Rules, 2022:
Features:
- 71 species of trees, including commonly used/commonly grown tree species and Shade Trees to be exempted from prior registration and prior felling permission vis-a-vis 11 exempted species in the old Rules of 2002. Transportation of these tree species do not need issuance of transit pass
- Online felling permission and certificate of origin, if proposed felling site is above 5 km from nearest forest, shall be generated within 48 hours of application. If it’s not provided within the timeline, the same is deemed to be issued, provided all the online application requirements are satisfactory.
- In case of plantations located within 5 km of felling site, if the felling permission is not generated within the stipulated time, the same would be deemed to have been issued
