Noted artist Neel Pawan Baruah passes away

way2barak, Oct.28: After a prolonged illness, renowned artist from Assam, Neel Pawan Baruah, breathed his last at Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) at 3:15 PM on Friday at the age of 86. He was suffering from age related ailments. Neel Pawan Baruah was admitted to the hospital for almost a week. His last rites will be held with full state honours in Saturday.

Founder of the Assam Fine Arts & Craft Society, Neel Pawan Baruah completed his education in Glazed Pottery from Shanti Niketan. He was also an expert in pottery, poetry, mask making and reviving the art in the famed Brindabani Bastra. He was married to popular singer, Padmashree Dipali Borthakur. Baruah was a recipient of Assam government’s civilian award- Assam Saurav in 2021.
