Women’s College organises awareness rally on ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’

Aug.11: Adding momentum to the call for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate the milestone occasion of 75 years of India’s Independence by hoisting or displaying the national flag with honour and patriotic enthusiasm in every house from August 13 to August 15, students, teachers and non-teaching staff of Women’s College Silchar took out an awareness rally along with the cadets of 62 Assam Girls Bn NCC of Women’s College on Thursday.

Dr Manoj Kumar Paul, principal of the college along with Dr Sutapa Sikidar, vice-principal teachers, and students were seen in great spirit as they walked with flags in their hands. The students along with NCC cadets cheered and chanted Bharat Mata ki Jai and also gave slogans for Har Ghar Tiranga.

The rally which started from the college roamed through Shillongpatty, Bhawal Point, Nazirpatty, Premtola, Ambikapatty and Church Road before culminating at the college premises.

The college fraternity also planted saplings under the Chief Minister’s Institutional Plantation Programme (CMIPP) organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college. The day’s proceedings ended with singing of the National Anthem.
