NIT Silchar organises Cycle Rally to spread the message of Yoga for Humanity
June 13: A Cycle Rally was flagged Off by Prof. Sivaji Bandyopadhyay, Director, NIT Silchar on 12 June, 2022 at 8:30 AM in presence of Deans, HoDs, Faculty, Staff and Students to mark the celebration of IYD-2022.
National Institute of Technology Silchar is going to celebrate the 8th IYD-2022 on 21 June, 2022 with its true spirit and enthusiasm. The Ministry of Ayush, GoI has launched the theme of IYD-2022 as ‘Yoga for Humanity’. Also, the ministry has launched several initiatives to maximize the participation of youths in IYD-2022 which has evolved to be one of successful initiatives of the Government that became a mass movement.
As part of this year’s celebration, NIT Silchar has organised this Cycle Rally to spread the message of rewards of practising Yoga among the citizen of Silchar, and to maximise participation in the 8th IYD-2022 on 21.06.2022. In his inaugural remark during flag off, Prof. Sivaji Bandyopadhyay reminded that the Yoga is not only for health, but for mental and spiritual wellbeing. He told, ‘We must practice Yoga for creating a harmonious balance between our physical and mental health. Students should practice Yoga as it ceases the fluctuations of mind and help to concentrate and build a progressive life with mental peace and happiness’ Prof. Bandyopadhyay said. It is to be mentioned that Yoga is made compulsory for all students of the institute in their first year of study.
There were around 200 students, faculty and staff members of the institution who have participated in the cycle rally. There were around 15 faculty kids who also have participated with great enthusiasm. There were international students who also have participated in the rally with immense interest and passion. Students carried different messages of Yoga and its benefits for a healthy and spiritual life. The rally started from the New Gallery arena of the campus and it went up to the island near CR Avenue, one of the busiest and populated places of the city. There were around 15 girl students who have completed the rally with fervour and passion. The citizens have enthusiastically cooperated, and they even waved off the cyclists, and some of them even took photographs and selfies.
The district administration has extended full support and cooperation to complete the rally. The institute conveyed their thankfulness to the District Administration, District Police and the Traffic Police division for their cooperation and support without which the event couldn’t have succeeded.
The institute also express their thankfulness to the citizen of Silchar for their cordial cooperation. With everyone’s support and cooperation the event has able to achieve its objectives to a great extent. Also, it is informed that there will be workshop on ‘Yoga for Humanity’ for the students of the institute before the IYD-22.
