WhatsApp banned 16 lakh accounts in April, 2022 in India

June 1: In its monthly report, Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp stated that it has banned 1,66,000 accounts in India between 1 April and 30 April. It further stated that 122 accounts were banned on user complaints. WhatsApp banned 16 lakh accounts in April, 2022 in India.

The company said it bans the account in several cases, including when an account accumulates negative feedback, such as when other users submit reports or block the account. The report has been published in accordance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
