Braving the flooded roads, ABVP Silchar Unit distribute relief among flood victims of Chatla & Bairagi Tilla

May 22: From the past few days, heavy rainfall in Assam resulted in a rapid rise of water level in all the rivers of the state.. Almost 26 districts of the state has been affected by the flood, Lakhs of people were effected as flood water inundated their houses. Many took shelter in relief camps, some others have moved down to high areas, whereas a few more who could not come out of their houses were found to stay with utmost difficulties.

Cachar District had also faced the wrath of the River Barak as it went up as high as 21.45 M. Eventually the low lying areas, khals also over-flowed leading to flooding of many areas. In order to help those residing in far flung areas of the district, Silchar Unit of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) stood beside the flood victims.

On Sunday, a team of ABVP Silchar Unit braved the roads full of water and took relief items for the residents of Bairagi Tilla, Chatla and other such low-lying areas. Apart from food items, they also gave Mosquito Repellers, Water Purifying Products, Cleansening lime and Bleachers, puffed rice, Sanitary Napkins etc. to the flood victims.
