Hindu Advocates Forum demands shut down of illegal slaughter houses & beef shops in Cachar

May 1: Hindu Advocates Forum (HAF) submitted a memorandum to ADC Sadhan Sarkar wherein they appealed to close down slaughter houses and beef shops in various areas including Muslims dominated Sonabarighat area in Cachar district. In the memorandum, HAF stated, “It’s unfortunate that inspite of having stringent laws as not to sell or slaughter any cow or ox within the radius of 5 km of Temple or the place where predominately Hindu residents stay; still these beef selling shop’s and slaughter house’s are running on full swing.”

Adv Rantankur Bhattacharya , Adv Ratnadwip Pal, Adv Nargis Bhowmik and Adv Samrat Dutta were present on behalf of the forum at the time of submitting the memorandum. Adv Samrat Dutta further stated that they would contest such “unlawful activities” on the basis of the legal process s per the Assam Cattle Preservation Act 2021.
