ওয়েটুবরাক, ৭ মার্চ : ফের বড় মাপের মাওবাদী নেতা কাছাড়ে ধরা পড়লেন৷ কাঞ্চনদা নামে পরিচিত ওই মাওবাদীকে পুলিশ অনেকদিন ধরে খুঁজে বেড়াচ্ছিল৷

আসাম পুলিশের স্পেশাল ব্রাঞ্চের (এসবি) সদর দফতরই তার অবস্থান জেনে যায়৷ সোমবার এসবির একটি টিম এসে অরুণকুমার ভট্টাচার্য ওরফে কাঞ্চনদাকে গ্রেফতার করে গুয়াহাটি নিয়ে যায়৷
তাকে ধরার জন্য পাঁচটি দলে ভাগ হয় পুলিশের বিশেষ শাখা পাতিমারা চা বাগান, নাগাডুম, জয়পুর এলাকা ধরে এগোয়৷ মাওবাদী কাঞ্চনদা ব্যাপারটা আঁচই করতে পারেননি৷ তার সঙ্গে ধরা পড়েছে আকাশ ওরাং নামে এক আদিবাসী নেতাও৷ তাকে গুয়াহাটিতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়েছে৷ দুইজনকেই এখন জেরা করা হবে৷
The 72-year-old Maoist leader, ‘Kanchan Da’ was on a mission to set up a state-level committee of the CPI (Maoist) in Assam and create a “red corridor” from a neighbouring country to other Maoist-hit states of India like Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh among others. This was informed in a press conference by Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh.

One laptop, a mobile phone, a huge amount of incriminating documents and Rs 3.6 lakh cash was seized from his possession. The police are also doubting that Kanchan Da’s intention was to recruit local cadres over here and purchase weapons for them.
