State govt planning to reopen classes for all educational institutes from 15 February: CM Assam

Jan. 31: The state government was planning to reopen classes for all educational institutes from 15 February. This was stated by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking to the media at Dhemaji on Monday. The Chief Minister further stated that the number of Covid cases in Assam is gradually decreasing. He also stated that within the next two days, the number of cases will further decrease.

Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that once the daily Covid count falls below 1000, the curfew will be rescheduled to 11 pm. In such a situation, curfew timings will be relaxed from 10 pm to 11 pm. CM Dr Sarma further stated that so far around 9 lakh students were vaccinated in the state and if the schools are kept open, it will be easier to vaccinate more students.

 Physical classes for students till eighth standard is suspended as of now, with classes for 9-12 being conducted on an alternate basis. However, these restrictions are likely to be lifted from 15 February, 2022.
