224 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Sunday, 501 discharged & 1 death at SMCH
There are 1,964 active cases in Cachar
Jan. 23: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Sunday at 7.30 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 200-mark on Sunday. A total of 224 persons were found positive in the district on 23 January. Also, 501 patients were discharged (453 from home & 48 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,964 out of which, 1,837 are in home isolation whereas 127 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Saturday, 224 persons were found positive in Cachar.
As per the updated data, a total of 2,784 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 347 persons were found positive, whereas 60 were detected positive out of 473 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 5,005 whereas during this phase, 2,749 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 21 January to 12 noon of 22 January, 2022. There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 22 January to 5 PM on 23 January) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as:
- Ajay Kumar Nath (70) from Jaifarpur in Cachar district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH at 8 PM on 21 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 8.45 PM on 22 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute kidney injury, acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 23 January, there were 31 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 04 patients were put under ventilator support, and 09 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 14 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 08 were discharged. A total of 22 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 11 in RTPCR on Sunday. Majority of them detected positive on Sunday opted for home isolation.
