533 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Wednesday, 476 discharged & 1 death at SMCH

There are 1,893 active cases in Cachar

Jan. 19: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually increasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Wednesday at 5.50 PM. As per the latest data, the daily Covid count in Cachar crossed the 500-mark on Wednesday. A total of 533 persons were found positive in the district on 19 January. Also, 476 patients were discharged (454 from home & 22 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 1,893 out of which, 1,730 are in home isolation whereas 163 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Tuesday, 469 persons were found positive in Cachar.

As per the updated data, a total of 2,791 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 433 persons were found positive, whereas 100 were detected positive out of 402 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 3,688 whereas during this phase, 1,783 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 18 January to 12 noon of 19 January, 2022. There has been a gradual rise in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 18 January to 5 PM on 19 January) witnessed the death of 01 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Wednesday evening.

The deceased was identified as:

  1. Parimal Das (44) from Labok Bazar in Cachar district tested Covid positive and was admitted at SMCH on 19 January (9.29 AM). The patient, however, breathed his last at 12.05 AM on the same day, that is, on 19 January, 2022. The patient was admitted with suspected poisoning on Wednesday morning and found to be RAT positive.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 19 January, there were 39 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 14 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 11 were discharged.
