MP Dr Rajdeep Roy injects Covid vaccine to school students & inaugurate the drive for 15-18 years in Cachar

Jan. 3: The ceremonial inauguration of Covid-19 vaccination drive for those in the age group of 15 to 18 years began on Monday at Narsing Higher Secondary School, Silchar. The drive was inaugurated by Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy in the presence of MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, DDC Rajiv Roy, Joint Director of Health Services, Cachar, Dr Ashutosh Barman and other officials and staff of the health department.

During the ceremonial inauguration, MP Dr Rajdeep Roy himself injected Covid vaccine to several school students in the age group of 15 to 18 years. Speaking during the occasion, MP Dr Roy said that along with the rest of the country, Cachar district has also joined the largest vaccination drive for those in the age group of 15 to 18 years. He informed that the beneficiaries can take the jab both by registering online through CoWIN and also in offline mode by walking in at the vaccination centre as per the schedule released by the district health department.

Dr Roy said, “As the world is now under the influence of Omicron variant of Covid-19, so it is absolutely necessary for all eligible persons to get vaccinated as early as possible.” Addressing the teenagers (15 to 18 years), he said, “All of you must take the jabs and be safe in the fight against coronavirus. Even after getting vaccinated, we should all follow safety precautions and always wear face mask for protection.

It needs mention here that during the day, a total of 260 doses of Covid vaccine was administered to children belonging to the age group 15 to 18 at Narsing HS School, Silchar.
