PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana extended till March 2022, to provide 5 kg free grains

Nov. 24: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday has decided to extend the ‘PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana’ to provide free ration till March 2022, said Union Minister Anurag Thakur during a press briefing. The scheme was slated to end on November 30. Under this scheme, the government provides 5 kg of food grains free of cost to around 80 crore NFSA beneficiaries.

Taking to his twitter handle, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “The decision by Cabinet on extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) for another four months (December 2021-March 2022) is laudable. It’s yet another reflection of Hon PM Sri @narendramodi’s commitment for the poor. This shall benefit millions.”
