Pension document of teachers to be finalised 3 months before their retirement: DC Cachar

Oct. 6: A meeting was held at the Cachar Deputy Commissioner’s office in Silchar on Wednesday in connection with monitoring of the progress of pension-related matters of all teachers who have retired from their service since 2010.

During the meeting, applications of Kritagyata (pension sanction and payment checking system) portal which were submitted from 2020 onwards were checked. Strict instructions were given to initiate the process of paper work at least one year before a person’s retirement. Similar instructions were given for Assistant Teachers and lower grade officials. Instructions were also given so that retirement papers are finalised three months before a person’s retirement to make the process smooth and avoid suffering and harassment to the person (retired teacher) concerned.

Apart from this, discussions on Aadhar card related issues were held with special emphasis on the importance of scaling up Aadhar card work of students. To cover around 3,00,000 lakh school students in 8 Education Blocks of Cachar District, Aadhar centres will be set up in schools. Accordingly, Block Elementary Officers (BEOs) including District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO), Inspector of Schools, Cachar, were instructed to submit the list of centres, verifiers and programme schedule as early as possible to initiate the process after reopening of schools. It is to be mentioned that for entire Assam, deadline for completion of Aadhar enrollment is 31 December, 2021.

Further, instructions were also given to Lead District Manager (LDM) to finalise a procedure for a hassle free system of opening Bank Account of school students for getting future benefits under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program. In this context, LDM, Cachar, Arunjyoti Dey was directed to undertake the guidelines of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) and also to discuss the matter with leading Banks of the district as without Aadhar card, banking system is not considering opening of new account of school students. Officials were also asked to link up the process with existing Mid Day Meal (MDM) Account Holder Bank or School Management Committee (SMC) Account Holder Bank in nearby areas.

While sharing her reaction, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said, “The administration has set the goal of timely completion of all pension-related work so that teachers do not have to face any trouble regarding their pension.” DC Jalli further stated that many people have to run from pillar to post for getting the pension work done. The Administration has chalked out a proper plan to ensure that the process of pension from now onwards is completed smoothly.

The meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education), Rajib Roy, District Elementary Education Officer (DEEO) Sumitra Dev, Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs), Branch Officer (Education) Himashri Deka, Inspector of schools (IS) Semina Yasmin Ara Rahman, Deputy Inspector of schools, Nurul Haque Mazarbhuiya ,Lead District Manager ,Arunjyoti Dey and officials of other relevant departments.
