45 more High Schools including 1 in Cachar upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools in Assam

Kashipur VP High School in Cachar district upgraded

Sept. 23: Assam Education Minister on Wednesday announced that “45 more High Schools have have been upgraded today to Higher Secondary schools.” Out of these 45 schools, Kashipur VP High School in Cachar district has also been upgraded.

Issuing an order to this effect, the Department of Secondary Education, Govt of Assam stated that 45 High Schools proposed for up-gradation to Higher Secondary Schools as per list enclosed subject to the conditions that the High Schools fulfills the following criteria.

  1. There should not be any amalgamation proposal.
  2. There should be minimum 2(two) additional classrooms available.
  3. There must be minimum 4(four) numbers of Graduate Teachers having Post Graduate Degree in minimum 4 (four) core subjects.
  4. There shall not be any new post creation.
  5. No financial grant shall be given to the upgraded schools immediately.
  6. The school must give undertaking that they will run Higher Secondary Classes with the existing qualified faculty having Post Graduate Degree.

Further, Secretary, AHSEC was asked to allow the upgraded 45 High Schools to Higher Secondary Schools as contained in the appended Annexure-A in the portal of AHSEC so that students can take admission in Class Xl and XII for the current academic year.

As per the list that Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced of 45 high schools that will be upgraded to higher secondary:

  • 5 Schools will be upgraded in Chirang
  • 5 Schools will be upgraded in Sonitpur
  • 3 Schools in Golaghat will be upgraded.
  • 3 Schools in Udalguri will be upgraded.
  • 2 Schools in Dibrugarh, 2 in Goalpara, 2 in Dhubri, 2 in Darrang will be upgraded
  • Another 2 schools will be upgraded in Morigaon and 2 in Barpeta district as well
  • 1 school each from Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi, Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur will be upgraded including Sivasagar and Tinsukia.
