DC Cachar holds review meeting on health parameters at Lakhipur, stresses on birth planning
Aug. 18: With a view to review the parameters related to Maternal Health and Child Health, Deputy Commissioner Cachar Keerthi Jalli visited Lakhipur and held a meeting with the health functionaries of Lakhipur Block Primary health centre and Harinagar Block Primary health centre at Pailapool Community Centre here on Wednesday.
During the visit, DC Jalli was accompanied by Dr. B. J. Deb Sikdar, in-charge Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. P. K. Roy, Addl. CM & HO, Dr. Sumona Naiding, DIO, Rahul Ghose, DPM (NHM), Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert (NHM) and other officials of NHM.
Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli interacted with the High Risk Pregnant Women and took stock of their health. She gave specific instruction to the SDM&HOs, CHOs, ANMs, ASHAs, ASHA Supervisors regarding management of each high risk cases. She also emphasised on birth planning. She, however, expressed displeasure over the fact that many of the cases with multiple children have turned pregnant again and the ANMs failed to convince them for family planning.
Jalli has instructed that the ASHAs should mandatorily visit the eligible couples to detect pregnancy early and get them registered at sub-centre. Birth Planning should be ensured for each pregnant women. DC Cachar also reviewed the other parameters relating to maternal and child health.
Ruth Liengthang, ADC, Lakhipur sub-division, Dr. T. H. Choudhury, SDM&HO, Lakhipur BPHC, Dr. Dibyajyoti Nath, SDM&HO, Harinagar BPHC and other health officials of the two BPHCs were also present.
