Ganasur gets a festive look, ready to step in its Golden Jubilee year on 2 August
Aug 1: Eminent cultural organisation of Silchar, ‘Ganasur’ is all ready for the get, set, go into its Golden Jubilee year on 2 August. The club members since the past few days were seen busy to give a face-lift to its club premises with full vigour and enthusiasm. Ganasur has completed 49 successful years of its existence and is going to step in its 50th year. Established on 2 August, 1972, Ganasur has successfully emerged as an icon of preserving and showcasing the cultural traits of Barak Valley.
The members of ‘Ganasur’ along with the well wishers of the locality were seen painting ‘Rangoli’ on the street near their club premises. With 49 proud years behind, Ganasur is now all prepared to step in the golden jubilee year. On 2 August, 2021 at 7 AM, the Golden Jubilee year of Ganasur will begin with unfurling its flag by Bijoy Khan, the President of this prominent cultural organisation.
The festive look of the club premises seems like a bridal attire. Though the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic has played a spoilsport with their plan and programme, but that could hardly dampen the spirit of those who are associated with ‘Ganasur’. With full regards to Covid-19 protocols, the event would be celebrated throughout the year.
Secretary of Ganasur, Raj Kumar Roy along with his team were seen to be active in social media, where they were disseminating information in various social media platforms like Facebook Page and WhatsApp groups about the various activities they would be undertaking. On Monday evening at 7.30 PM, a virtual programme entitled “Panchaser Prarombho” will be organised in Facebook Live in the official page of Ganasur Sanskritik Sangstha. Eminent artists from multiple fields will participate in this virtual live programme. The programme will be compared by eminent dramatist Subrata Roy (Sambhu).
Ganasur has carved a niche for itself by performing in All India drama competition in Lucknow and has also staged several dramas in Bangladesh apart from their performances in several areas of North East India. In a press meet organised in this connection in the club premises on last Sunday, cultural icons of the valley, who are members of Ganasur expressed their plans of celebrating their much cherished golden jubilee. However, though they had chalked out a blue print since the last few years for celebrating their golden jubilee, yet the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic have compelled them to modify their plans abiding by the Covid appropriate behaviour. As such, they have now decided to mark their august celebration in a virtual mode.
It was also informed that once the black pall of Covid-19 paves the way for a corona-free world, Ganasur will organise drama fest and cultural programme in a big auditorium in Silchar. It was also informed that they are striving hard to stage atleast one drama in a week, once the situation is improved.
