DDMA Cachar conducts awareness programme on World Drowning Prevention Day

July 25: On the occasion of World Drowning Prevention Day, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA),  Cachar in association with Circle Disaster Management Committee’s of Sonai & Silchar and NDRF conducted an awareness programme on prevention of drowning incidents on Sunday.

A large number of local people assembled to witness the practical demonstration which was carried out in both the areas at Kazidahar, Sonai and Rosekandy TE, Silchar infront of water bodies in memory of all the deceased who lost their lives due to drowning.

The United Nations has designated July 25 every year as the World Drowning Day. The global organisation dedicated this day for the global advocacy of drowning prevention in April this year through a resolution, moving towards a more sustainably developed world.
