With 33 more Covid +ve cases, day’s total in Cachar rises to 87 on 17 July, 3 deaths at SMCH

Active cases 334 in Cachar; 41 discharged on Saturday

July 17: The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Saturday at late night. As per the latest data, 33 more persons were detected as Coronavirus positive during the day. With this, a total of 87 persons were found positive in the district on 17 July. Earlier, at 6 PM, it was informed that 54 persons were found positive. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has gone down to 334. This was informed by District Media Expert on Saturday night. Also, 41 patients were discharged during the day. It needs mention here that on Friday, 54 persons were detected as Covid-19 positive in Cachar. Further, on Saturday, 3,680 persons were vaccinated in Cachar district.

As per the updated data, a total of 4,901 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 50 persons were found positive, whereas 27 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,503 whereas during this phase, 17,992 patients were discharged.

Apart from this, the district authority informed that out of the 334 active patients:

00 at Gracewell Nursing Home
02 at Cachar Cancer Hospital
00 at Valley Hospital
00 at South City Hospital
04 at Chibitabichia Model Hospital
05 at Jivan Jyoti Hospital
18 at Chotodudpatil Model Hospital
23 Palonghat Model Hospital
139 patients are in home isolation.

The Covid-19 situation in Cachar is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. However, the last 24 hours (5 PM on 16 July to 5 PM on 17 July) witnessed the death of 03 Covid-19 positive patients at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Saturday evening. Out of the three deceased, two are from Cachar and 01 from Karimganj.

The deceased were identified as S Dhananjoy Singha (80) from Lakhipur in Cachar district, Sikha Paul (60) from Lane No.2 at Bilpar, Silchar and Ryaz Ali (64) from Bazaricherra in Karimganj district took admission as SMCH on 11 July. He died at 11 AM on 17 July.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 17 July, there were 75 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 53 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 22 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 05 patients were put under ventilator support and 62 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 12 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 10 of them were discharged.
