Barak Valley registers 130 Covid +ve cases on Monday, 140 discharged

There are 800 active Covid cases in Barak Valley

July 13: The number of coronavirus positive cases are gradually decreasing in the three districts of Barak Valley along with the rest of Assam. However, on Monday, the number of fresh cases in the valley increased once again. A total of 130 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the three districts of Barak Valley during the day. Further, during the day, 140 patients were cured and subsequently discharged in the three districts of the valley. At present, there are 800 active Covid cases in Barak Valley. It needs mention here that on Sunday, Barak Valley registered 70 positive cases.

Here is the district-wise break up of fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected on Monday in Barak Valley:

  • Cachar: 78 positive cases   (It was 46 on Sunday)
  • Karimganj: 52 positive cases (It was 13 on Sunday)
  • Hailakandi: 10 positive cases (It was 11 on Sunday)

A total of 78 new cases of COVID-19 was reported on Monday in Cachar. As per the updated data, a total of 9,515 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 55 persons were found positive, whereas 23 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 April, 2021 reached 18,275, whereas during this phase, 17,708 patients were discharged. The number of active cases in Cachar has reached 394. Also, 55 patients were discharged during the day.  The Covid-19 situation in gradually is gradually improving. There has been substantial decline in the number of daily positive cases. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 11 July to 5 PM on 12 July) did not witness the death of any Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Monday evening.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 12 July, there were 94 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 49 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 45 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 12 patients were put under ventilator support and 62 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 13 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 14 of them were discharged.

Hailakandi registered 10 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Of the 10 positive cases detected on Monday, 10 of them have been found positive under Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) whereas none were detected positive in RT-PCR test. The district has altogether 103 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 1,728 RAT tests and 340 RT-PCR tests were done. 21 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 7,632 (both 1st & 2nd wave).

As of now, a total of 4,107 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 11 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Sunday. Till date 47 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district. A total of 3,574 persons were administered the 1st dose of Covid vaccine on Monday in Hailakandi district, whereas, 296 were given the 2nd dose.

Karimganj registered 52 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday. The district has currently 303 active COVID-19 cases, while 64 patients have been discharged from hospitals and home isolation on Monday. 4,589 swab samples were collected during the day. It needs mention here that 13 positive cases were detected in Karimganj on Sunday.

On Monday, out of 1,68,361 tests, 2,575 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 5,36,238. The positivity rate in the state is 1.53 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 217 positive cases during the day. Further, on Monday, 37 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 4,865. The recovery rate is 95.19 percent. On Sunday, 2,916 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 5,10,432 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged.  At present, there are 19,594 active cases in the state.

Further, during the day, 37 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 37 deceased, 05 each are from Baksa & Sonitpur; 04 each in Karbi Anglong & Lakhimpur; 03 each from Dibrugarh & Nagaon; 02 each from Kamrup Metro & Sivasagar; 01 each from Barpeta, Charaideo, Darrang, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup Rural, Nalbari, Tinsukia and Udalguri. The death tally of the state now stands at 4,865.
