9,29,568 persons stranded outside Assam gives miss call in Helpline
April 18: A total of 9,29,568 persons who are now stranded outside Assam in different states have given miss call in the Helpline number given by the state government. This was declared by the government to assess the number of residents of Assam who are stranded outside due to lockdown and thereafter offer financial assistance to them. After verification from mobile service providers, the state government found that out of this 9 lakh plus miss calls, 4,32,383 calls were made really from outside Assam. This was informed by state Health Minister, Dr. himanta Biswa Sarma in a press briefing held in Guwahati on Saturday evening.
The 4,32,383 persons were sent a form through WhatsApp. Till now, 2,17,220 persons stranded outside Assam have submitted back the filled up form through WhatsApp. Himanta Biswa Sarma. he urged upon the others also to fill up the form as soon as possible. The verification of these people are now done at the district level. As of now, the verification of 50,000 persons is over.
The minister said that some financial assistance will also be provided to this lot of people very soon. The amount has not yet been finalised and soon this will be communicated to the media.
