1862 +ve cases in Assam on Friday including 140 in Cachar, state tally crosses 40,000-mark
July 31: On Friday, 1862 persons were tested positive in Assam. With this, the state tally has crossed the 40,000-mark and reached 40,269. Meanwhile, though the Cachar district health department gave the data of 75 positive cases (39 cases in 4 slots & 36 cases tested vide RAT), but State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Friday night stated that 140 positive cases were detected in Cachar on 31 July. Going by the data provided by the health minister, Cachar occupied the 2nd position in the state after Kamrup Metro in terms of detection of positive cases on Friday. There were 281 positive cases which were detected from Kamrup Metro on Tuesday.
Further, the day witnessed four more deaths due to COVID-19, thereby taking the death tally of the state to 98. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, “Alert ~ 1862 #COVID cases detected out of 38324 tests in 24 hrs. Positivity rate- 4.85% Kamrup (M): 281 Kamrup (R): 202, Cachar: 140, Sonitpur: 129, D’garh: 117, Nagaon: 114, Jorhat: 105″. The number of active cases reached 11,088 on Friday.
