82 tests positive in Cachar on Wednesday; 3 more die at SMCH

Sept. 16: On Wednesday,a total of 82 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar district. During the day, a total of 1055 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 74 were found positive, whereas 08 were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 7,935 till now. It needs mention here that 85 persons were found positive in Cachar on Tuesday.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test 02 perons were found positive on Wednesday. They are a 74-year old patient from Tripura who is currently admitted at Valley Hospital. Apart from this person, another 23-year-old male from from Subhas Nagar was also tested positive during the day. Both of them are asymptomatic.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, 06 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. They are a 54-year-old female teacher of GC College, Silchar, a 30-year-old male from Harinagar (air passenger from Bangalore), 34-year-old male from Das Colony (air passenger from Bangalore), 68 years old female from Bilpar (with ILI symptoms), 62 years old male from MM Road, Tarapur and 30 years old male from Group Centre, CRPF Dayapur.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Wednesday said that in the last 24 hours, 240 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 511 persons were collected. 536 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 11 of them tested positive. Further, 140 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 08 were found positive.

Apart from this, 10 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 30 were discharged. At present, there are 149 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 27 patients are now in critical condition. Another 42 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 128 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 239 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 03 persons have died at SMCH due to COVID-19. Out of the 3 deceased, 1 of them is from Cachar and the rest 2 are from Karimganj. As of now, there were 134 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 134 deaths, 54 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
