8 new corona cases detected; tally rises to 2,941 in Hailakandi district

Sept.24: Eight fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported from South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Thursday, taking the total tally to 2,941.

Health authorities here disclosed that of the eight positive cases, six have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 641 swab samples were taken on Thursday. Altogether 1,659 cases have been found positive under RAT with over 50 per cent without travel history. 2,744 persons on being cured have been released from hospitals.The number of active cases is 178.

Eight COVID-19 positive patients have breathed their last at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. 11 deaths at SMC&H have been declared as ‘non-COVID’ by the State level Death Audit Board. 85 COVID-19 asymptomatic persons are under home isolation.

Of the 24,781 swab samples taken, 22,290 have tested negative. Swab results of 329 persons are awaited. Altogether 65,530 swab samples were taken under RT-PCR and RAT. 40-45 mobile medical teams have fanned out to different parts of the district.
