79 tests Covid positive in Cachar on Tuesday, 66 discharged & 1 death at SMCH
There are 292 active cases in Cachar
Feb. 1: The number of coronavirus cases in Cachar district is gradually decreasing. The District Health Department of Cachar updated the Covid-19 data of Tuesday at 6.45 PM. As per the latest data, a total of 79 persons were found positive in the district on 1 February. Also, 66 patients were discharged (63 from home & 03 from hospital) during the day. With this, the number of active cases in Cachar has reached 292 out of which, 224 are in home isolation whereas 68 are admitted in various hospitals of the district. On Monday, 31 persons were found positive in Cachar. The death toll in Cachar due to Covid has reached 31 this year.
As per the updated data, a total of 1,985 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 64 persons were found positive, whereas 15 were detected positive out of 268 RT-PCR Tests. With this, the total number of Covid cases since 1 Jan 2022 reached 6,253 whereas during this phase, 5,930 patients were discharged. This data was provided by the district health department from 12 noon of 31 January to 12 noon of 1 February, 2022. There has been a gradual decrease in the number of daily positive cases in Cachar district. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 31 January to 5 PM on 1 February) witnessed the death of 01 more Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as:
- Sanjib Banerjee (47) from Public School Road Silchar was admitted at SMCH on 30 January. The patient, however, breathed his last at 11.30 PM on 31 January, 2022. The patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome, enlargement of heart, type 2 diabetes, diabetic foot, chronic kidney disease & RHD.
It needs mention here that Sanjib Banerjee was working as a journalist in Silchar. His death was mourned by the entire media fraternity of the district.
Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 1 February, there were 15 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College. Further, 02 patients were put under ventilator support, and 06 in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 07 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 02 were discharged. A total of 07 patients were detected positive in RAT at SMCH and 04 in RTPCR on Tuesday. Majority of them detected positive on Tuesday opted for home isolation.
