764 meritorious students of 127 schools received Anundoram Borooah Awards in Cachar
way2barak, Sept.7: The Anundoram Borooah Awards 2022 were given away in Cachar district here on Wednesday. The ceremonial distribution was held at Rajib Bhawan,Silchar. Speaking as the chief guest of the occasion, Minister for Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya said “The Anundaram Borooah award has encouraged competitiveness among the students. This has resulted in a growing percentage of first division holders in H.S.L.C examination.”
Elaborating on the state government’s strategies and development policies, Minister Suklabaidya said that there is a vast change in the education sector in terms of infrastructural development in the state under the leadership of CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma. The minister said that earlier the schools lacked necessary buildings, desks, benches but now the scenario has changed and almost all the schools are well equipped with modern facilities like computers, smart boards etc.”
While speaking at the event, Cachar Deputy Commissioner, Rohan Kumar Jha said that the Government of Assam is currently taking very fast steps for comprehensive development of government schools. In this regard, the teacher recruitment process is going on transparently and this process is continuing. In the interest of educational development, the government has provincialized 54,103 teachers in about 12,099 schools in all the districts of Assam from 2012 to 2021. Apart from this, 51,655 teaching posts have been filled through direct recruitment.
DC Jha further informed that as many as 764 meritorious students of 127 schools of Cachar district who had secured more than 75 percent marks in the HSLC examination 2022 were given away cash award of Rs 16,000, which was transferred instantly to their bank accounts.
President, Cachar Zilla parishad, Amitabha Rai also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, Inspector of Schools, Semina Yasmin Ara Rahaman delivered the welcome address and said that the award distribution which started in 2005 has inspired the students to register commendable results.
It is pertinent to mention that the Anundoram Borooah award scheme was started in the year 2005 and the students who secured 75 percent or more than 75 percent in H.S.L.C examination conducted by the board of secondary education are eligible for the Anandaram Barooah award. The event was also attended by MP, Silchar Dr Rajdeep Roy, Silchar legislator Dipayan Chakraborty, District Development Commissioner, In-charge Education, Rajib Roy and several others.
