75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav held in Silchar

April 19: A fertiliser application awareness programme was organised in the auditorium of Zilla Parishad, Cachar here on Tuesday for celebrating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav” on completion of India’s 75th independence. The programme was organised by the Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Company Ltd, a leading fertiliser company of India.

Several progressive farmers and field level officials of the Department of Agriculture participated in the programme. Dr AR Ahmed, SDAO (Horticulture), Cachar delivered his inaugural speech on the importance of right dose of fertiliser for various crops, Integrated Nutrients Management Practices, adoption of recommendations as mentioned in the Soil Health Card for sustainable development of agriculture. He also appealed to the farmers to practice cashless transactions (QR code) while purchasing fertilisers.

Ajit Singh, Deputy Manager (Marketing), BVFCL, Silchar welcomed the invited guests and participants .Dr PK Singh, Manager (Marketing), BVFCL assured to supply quality fertiliser through their dealers in the district for increasing crop production. He further added that the farmers should apply fertiliser during proper time and at the right stage of the crop for higher efficacy.

Dr Rahul Chakraborty, Senior ADO (Marketing) spoke on the method of fertiliser application and its judicious use. Earlier, Ajit Singh, Deputy Manager, (Marketing), BVFCL explained the purpose of the meeting and delivered the welcome address. The farmers present in the meeting interacted with the officials and raised pertinent questions during the question answer session which was replied by the experts present in the programme. “The programme was quite successful in creating awareness on fertiliser application among the farmers,” quipped Dr.Ahmed.
