70 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday, 34 patients critical at SMCH

Oct. 3: On Saturday, a total of 70 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 61 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 09 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Saturday night. However, he indicated that the numbers may increase at night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,630. It needs mention here that 82 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, 172 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 611 persons were collected. 456 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 15 of them tested positive. Further, 360 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 10 were found positive.

Apart from this, 15 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 03 were discharged. At present, there are 107 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 20 are admitted in ICU and 01 in ventilation. 34 patients are now in critical condition. Another 35 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 189 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 350 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none from Cachar died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 149 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 149 deaths, 60 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
