5,626 tests Covid-19 +ve in Assam on Thursday 3,262 patients discharged & 47 deaths registered

May 7: On Friday, out of 68,318 tests, 5,626 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive in Assam. This is the highest single day spike in the number of Covid cases in Assam in 2021. With this, the state tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 2,83,313. The positivity rate in the state is 8.24 percent. Kamrup (Metro) district registered 1,551 positive cases during the day. Further, on Friday, 47 more persons lost their lives in the state due to COVID-19. With this, the death toll in the state reached 1,578.
It needs mention here that on Thursday, 4,936 persons tested positive in Assam and 46 deaths were registered.
On Friday, 3,262 patients were discharged in Assam. With this, a total of 2,46,242 patients got cured and were subsequently discharged from various hospitals and Covid Care centres across the state. This was confirmed in a tweet by NHM, Assam. The recovery rate in the state is 86.91 percent.

Further, during the day, 47 patients died in Assam due to COVID-19. Out of the 47 deceased, 15 are from Kamrup Metro; 8 from Dibrugarh; 3 each from Cachar & Golaghat; 2 each from Nalabari, Sibsagar, Sonitpur & Udalguri; 1 each from Baksha, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup Rural and Karimganj. The death tally of the state now stands at 1,578.
