55 more detected +ve on Tuesday in Cachar, day’s total 90

July 28: On Tuesday, after the declaration of swab results of 1st and 2nd slot, 35 persons tested positive in Cachar district. However, after the results of 3rd slot and Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were announced, the positive cases went up rapidly. 15 more tested positive as per the RTPCR Test of 3rd slot, whereas 40 were detected positive on Tuesday as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). So combining the 3rd slot RTPCR & RAT, 55 more tested positive in Cachar till 7.30 PM on Tuesday. With this, the day’s tally has gone upto 90 in the district. This was disclosed by District Media Expert Suman Choudhury during the routine press briefing on Tuesday.

Further, Bimal Paul (78) from Central Road, Silchar who was admitted at SMCH after he was detected corona positive died on Tuesday afternoon. His case has been sent to State Level Death Audit Board to ascertain whether the death has resulted solely due to COVID or due to co-morbidity.

As the number of positive cases are increasing rapidly in Cachar, the district health department has decided to increase the bed capacity in various hospitals and Covid Care Centres. Further, Covid patients are now also kept at NATRIP in Jhapirbond. Positive cases are admitted at Foreigners’ Tribunal and Cibitabichia Model Hospital. But the symptomatic cases are referred to SMCH. Suman Choudhury further informed that the health department is contemplating to increase 6000 more beds for asymptomatic patients.

The 15 positive detected as per the 3rd slot of RTPCR Test are Dr. Gobinda Banik (48) from Das Colony, Silchar, Nitish Das Gupta (32) from Srikona,  Khadeza Begum (32) from Link road, Meherpur and Abul kalam Noor Ahmed Laskar (38). All of them are asymptomatic and were infected after they came in direct contact with high risk contact of lab confirmed case. Their swab samples were collected on 26 July and the report came on Tuesday.

Ranjit Das (38) from Kathal Road, Silchar came from Hyderabad and was also tested positive during the day. Three more persons came to Cachar from Mumbai on 26 July. They are Mayman Hanse (24) from Konapara, Kalain, AR Barbhuiya (34) from South Bariknagar and Mahim Uddin Laskar (22) from Nagdirgram, Pt-I, Sonai. All of them were detected positive on Tuesday. They are asymptomatic.

Two persons were detected COVID-19 positive vide Assam Targeted Surveillance Program (ATSP). They are Biraj Dhar (38) from NN Dutta Road, Silchar and Rabindra Deka (40) from ISBT. Manoj Paul (50) from Bilpar also tested positive during the day. However, his source of getting infected was not mentioned. Anup Goala (41) from Ganganagar who came in contact with a positive patient tested positive on Tuesday. Dipen Sharma (36) from Jarailtala (Air passenger from Srinagar) and Sanjeev Kumar (44) from CRPF Kashipur (Air passenger from Delhi). also tested positive.

MLA Sonai and Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Aminul Haque Choudhury and his driver were confirmed positive on Tuesday after Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) was done. He exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms and on Tuesday a team of health workers were sent to do RAT. However, his family members tested negative. The Deputy Speaker has been admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). It needs mention here that Mr.Laskar is the 1st MLA from Cachar to be detected as Covid positive. A doctor Borkhola Primary Health centre also tested positive.

As per the 1st slot, 30 persons were tested positive in Cachar district on Tuesday. Out of them, 4 persons from Medinova, Silchar were detected positive. All of them are asymptomatic. They were infected after they came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. They are Suma Biswas (21), Sumitra Das (48), Rustana Begum (30), Rupak Roy (22) and Rubi Das (24). Further, another 4 persons from Bilpar, Silchar also tested positive during the day. They were tested positive after they exhibited Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms. All 4 of them are symptomatic.

Others are Jiauddin Choudhury (58) from Lakhipur SDO Office (Tested positive vide ATSP), Dr. H. Membi Singh (27) from Banipara, Silchar, Jimi Nath (31) from Vivekananda Road, Silchar (Air passenger from Bangalore), Munnaharshi Das (23) from Swamiji Road, Itkhola (Air passenger from Delhi), Nasim Ahmed Barbhuiya (20) from Beranga (Air passenger from Bangalore), Sadhana Dutta (49) from Gangapara, Rongpur (came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed case) and Dr. Kalyan Nath (29) from Old PG Hostel, SMCH, Silchar (Symptomatic health care worker).

Aminul Haque Laskar (28) from Sundri Pt-I, Kochudaram (Air passenger from Bangalore), Mahmub Laskar (24) from Tupkhana Pt-I, Silchar (Air passenger from Bangalore), Samoni Begum Laskar (23) (Air passenger from Bangalore), Debangshu Das (23) from Goniganj, Near Forest Road (Air passenger from Bangalore), Ajim Uddin Barbhuiyan (50) from Joypur, Harinagar (Air passenger from Bangalore), Siddik Ahmed (18) from Bihara Pt-V, Kandigram (Air passenger from Chennai), Arshad Uddin Mazarbhuiya (29) from Ganirgram, Masimpur (Air passenger from Jammu & Kashmir), Abul Hussain choudhury (37) from Gobindapur Pt-I, Baskandi (Air passenger from Jammu & Kashmir), Sazzad Hussain Choudhury (25) from Baskandi (Air passenger from Mumbai), Abdur Rahman (32) from Katigorah (Air passenger from Kolkata), Md. Sahed Romiz Uddin (21) from Borkhola (Air passenger from Kolkata) and Kashilak Gangmei (55) from Katigorah (Influenza Like Illness (ILI) symptoms).

Further, 2 persons from the BSF also tested positive. They are Puneet Kumar (28) from Dholcherra BSF (Air passenger from Himachal Pradesh) and Abinash Kr. Mohta (30) BSF Dholcherra (Air passenger from Kolkata).

As per the 2nd slot, 5 persons from Cachar were detected as COVID-19 positive on Tuesday. they are Bapon Paul (38) from Sarat Pally, Silchar, Rakhi Deb (58) from 1st Link Road. Both of them are asymptomatic but were infected after they came in direct contact with high risk lab confirmed cases. Susmita Seal Tanti (43) from Durgapally, Ghungoor, Jasmin Akhtar Barbhuiya (24) from SMCH, Silchar were also tested positive. But their sources of getting infected was not mentioned. The last in the list is Abdul Kadir Choudhury (25) from Baskandi  (Air passenger from Hyderabad).
