2 more deaths registered in last 24 hours at SMCH

Oct. 13: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be ruled out that all of them were infected with coronavirus. Those COVID positive persons who die due to comorbidities are usually not certified as ‘Covid-19’ death by the State Death Audit Board.

On Tuesday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that in the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 02 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of them, 01 is from Manipur district while the other is from Tripura. The deceased were identified as:

  • Rik Malakar (02 months) from Unokoti in Tripura was admitted in SMCH at 7 AM on 11 October. The baby lost his life at 8.30 PM on 12 October. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
  • James Rongmei (35 years) from Jiribam in Manipur was admitted in SMCH at 3 PM on 11 October. He, breathed his last at 7 AM on 13 October. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
