49 tests +ve in Cachar on Thursday; 04 more deaths registered at SMCH

Oct. 22: On Thurssday, a total of 49 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 48 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), whereas 01 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,226. It needs mention here that 27 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday.

In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, 182 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 521 persons were collected. 603 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 03 of them tested positive. Further, 372 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 07 were found positive.

Apart from this, 07 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 02 were discharged. At present, there are 40 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 02 in ventilation. 03 patients are now in critical condition. No patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 247 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 465 patients.

Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 04 patients have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH, out of which 02 are from Karimganj and 02 from Hailakandi. As of now, there were 168 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 168 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
