4 more deaths registered in last 24 hours at SMCH

Sept. 11: The number of deaths in Barak Valley continued unabated on Friday also. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that in the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 4 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of the 4 deceased, 2 are from Cachar and 2 from Karimganj. The deceased were identified as:

• Srikanta Chakraborty (82) from Link Road, Silchar was admitted in SMCH on 5 September. He, however, breathed his last at 2.20 PM on 10 September. His death was certified as non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
• Basanti Bala Das (75) from Tarapur, Silchar got admitted in SMCH at 4.35 PM on 3 September. She succumbed to the infection at 7.30 AM on 11 September. Her death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
• Promod Das (62) from Karimganj was admitted in SMCH at 7.30 PM on 10 September. He died at 1.30 PM on 11 September. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
• Tapu Nath (21) from Karimganj was admitted in SMCH at 1.32 PM on 10 September. He breathed his last at 12.09 AM on 11 September. His death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
