4 fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Hailakandi, count now 242

June 24: Four more fresh COVID-19 novel coronavirus cases have been detected in Hailakandi on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 242. Health authorities here disclosed that Alimuddin Barbhuiya, 28, Mustafa Ahmed Laskar, 29, Fajarul Islam Laskar 25, and Suhul Ahmed Barbhuiya,19, all under institutional quarantine facility have tested positive.

Of the four COVID-19 infected, two were under quarantine centre at Royal Guest House, one at ALC College quarantine centre and one at JNV quarantine centre. Two infected persons have travel history to UP, one to Hyderabad and one to Noida.

109 patients have been discharged from civil hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. There are currently 133 active cases. Two COVID-19 positive patients viz., Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at SMC&H.

Of the 6,468 swab samples taken, 5,176 turned out to be negative, as per health bulletin released on Wednesday evening. 959 swab results are awaited. Altogether 1,304 persons are under facility quarantine centre and 2,966 under home quarantine.
