356 beds available in 3 districts of Barak Valley for COVID-19 patients: MP Silchar
May 29: As the number of COVID-19 positive cases are increasing throughout Assam, the state government is exploring possibilities of starting treatment of such patients in other hospitals. Efforts are also on to increase the physical and human infrastructure in the existing COVID-19 hospitals. On Friday, Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy gave out a detailed data of the infrastructural facilities available for treatment of COVID-19 patients in the three districts of Barak Valley.
- Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH): 206 beds available for COVID-19 patients.
- Karimganj Civil Hospital: 30 beds ready and another 50 almost ready for COVID-19 patients
- SK Roy Hospital, Hailakandi: 50 beds ready for treating COVID-19 patients
Dr. Rajdeep Roy further mentioned that the total number of beds available for COVID-19 patients in the three districts of Barak valley stands at 356. He further mentioned that the Microbiology lab at SMCH is capable of doing 1000 swab tests per day. He believes that the capacity building process is moving ahead at a good pace. MP Silchar appealed to the people to stay safe and not to panic by any rumours in social media.
