32 tests +ve in Cachar on Sunday, 19 patients in critical condition at SMCH
Oct. 11: On Sunday, a total of 32 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 682 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) were done, out of which, 23 persons were found positive, whereas 09 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Sunday night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,716. It needs mention here that 39 persons were found positive in Cachar on Saturday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Sunday said that in the last 24 hours, 172 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 505 persons were collected. 268 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 13 of them tested positive. Further, 163 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 03 were found positive.
Apart from this, 06 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 13 were discharged. At present, there are 101 active patients at SMCH, out of which, 19 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 19 patients are now in critical condition. Another 05 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 210 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 397 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 156 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 156 deaths, 62 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
