3 new protocols to be followed in Assam as regards Covid management: Himanta Biswa Sarma
April 8: Three new directives were issued by the Assam government for Covid management. This was disclosed by State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while talking with the journalists on Thursday. These 3 steps are:
Passengers coming from Mumbai and Banglore have to undergone compulsory #COVID19 tests in The Airports and Railways stations of Assam

- Passengers coming from Karnataka and Maharastra will have to do a mandatory COVID test once they enter into Assam, even if they have conducted the test before coming to Assam.
- Ahead of the Bihu festival in Assam, everyday one lakh COVID-19 tests will be conducted.
- Doctors and nurses in the state were already vaccinated, so this time there won’t be any difficulty in doing treatment of Covid patients by them. Moreover, there is also no requirement of PPE kits for treating Covid patients.
As regards closing down of schools in the state, the minister replied that such a situation has not arrived in Assam, so the people need not panic but only remain alert. He further added that the state government will take appropriate steps as the situation demands. He also denied the possibility of lockdown or night curfew in the state and rather stated that Assam will function all activities in normal mode.
Meanwhile, the Health & Family Welfare Department notified the Revised Protocol for Management of COVID-19 (Annexure-A), in supersession of the treatment protocol for COVID-19 patients on 7 April, 2021. This notification would come into immediate effect. The notification was issued by Samir K Sinha, Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Health & Family Welfare Department.
