3 more deaths registered in last 24 hours at SMCH
September 2: The coronavirus pandemic has now led to a procession of death also in Barak Valley. Since the last few days, the valley witnessed many deaths, although all of them were not certified as COVID-19 deaths. However, this also cannot be ruled out that all of them were infected with coronavirus. Those COVID positive persons who die due to comorbidities are usually not certified as ‘Covid-19’ death by the audit board.
On Wednesday, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) informed that in the last 24 hours, the Valley witnessed 3 more deaths at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). Out of the 3 deceased, 1 is from Cachar & 2 are from Karimganj district. The 3 deceased were identified as:
- Pranesh Nath (52) from Ambicapatty, Silchar was admitted in SMCH at 1.22 PM on 29 August. He, however, breathed his last at 10.35 PM on 1 September, 2020. His death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Madhabi Bhattacharjee (75) R.K. Mission Road, Karimganj was admitted in SMCH at 6.40 PM on 30 August. She, however, succumbed to the infection at 3.15 PM on 1 September. Her death was certified as Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
- Fatima Begum (45) from Ashimganj in Karimganj district was admitted in SMCH at 11.44 PM on 31 August. She died at 5.30 AM on 2 September, 2020. Her death was certified as Non-Covid death by the State Death Audit Board.
